Between 12 and 14 October, Katowice hosted the third edition of the Silesian Water Sports and Recreation Fair WIND and WATER. Luxury motorboats, sailing yachts, scooters, modern sailing and motorboat equipment was exhibited in the International Congress Center, in the heart of Katowice. Katowice was the co-host of the Fair, organizer YACHT EXPO, executive organizer - Murator EXPO. The Magazine "Żagle" - the most widely read monthly magazine dedicated to sailing and water sports - was the partner of the Fair.

Silesia is a region with a huge potential and currently one of the strongest and most active sailing districts in Poland. The history of sailing in Silesia dates back to the early twenties of the last century and now Silesia has become a real home of water sports enthusiasts, whose number increases every year. The training and recreational offer is constantly expanding, and in many Silesian families sailing has become a multigenerational sport. Those of Silesians who practice water sports can be found both in the inland waters and in the waters around the world.

The WIND and WATER Boat Show organized in Katowice is continuing the traditions of the Warsaw Fair which has been held for almost 30 years. It is the largest and oldest exhibition event in Poland in the field of water sports and recreation.  Last year's edition of the WIND and WATER Boat Show in Katowice gathered nearly 200 exhibitors and over 13,000 visitors. An integral part of the Fair was the Marine Industry Forum, attended by 130 representatives of the yacht industry from Polish yachting industry and abroad.

The Silesian WIND and WATER Boat Show, apart from a unique exhibition, represented also an exceptionally rich program of accompanying events - lectures, meetings with water sport champions and sailors as well as nominations and awards. 

The editors of the "Żagle" Magazine presented “Gwoździe” of the Silesian WIND and WATER - prestigious awards for exceptional products at the WIND and WATER distinguished by their innovation, design, quality and functionality. The “Gwóźdź” WIND and WATER award has been granted for almost a quarter of a century at the Warsaw Fair, and since 2016 also the best products presented in Katowice have been awarded. Furthermore, nominations in the competition "Yacht Product of the Year" organized under the patronage of the KOTNIZ company was awarded. The goal of the competition was to discover and distinguish the most interesting, most innovative and useful products available on the Polish market. All water enthusiasts, for whom all these nominations and prizes were a valuable hint while making a wise selection of the broadly exhibited equipment, definitely benefited from visiting the WIND and WATER.

This year's Silesian WIND and WATER Boat Show was accompanied by the second edition of the Marine Industry Forum, the only B2B event of this type in Poland, addressed to representatives of the yachting industry. Polish and foreign entrepreneurs got a unique opportunity to get acquainted with the latest trends and innovative products on the international market, exchange valuable experience and effectively promote their rich offer.
