The 14. edition of the WIND and WATER on water Boat Show behind us

Between 18-21 July 2019, the WIND and WATER Boat Show took place in the Marina Gdynia. The Fair on water is the only event in Poland, during which we can admire the most beautiful sailing and motor yachts on water, as well as the fastest scooters, modern sailing and motorboat equipment. The fair is organized by YACHT EXPO, Murator EXPO, in the partnership cooperation with POLBOAT and the monthly Żagle. The strategic partner of the Fair is Gdynia - Sailing Capital of Poland.

The main goal of the WIND and WATER on water is to promote water sports activities, enable water sports enthusiasts to evaluate modern, worldwide known yachts and motor boats as well as to get acquainted with the newest trends in water sports equipment in their natural environment - on water.

This year’s edition in Gdynia visited more than 11 000 people. Nearly 130 exhibitors took part, including companies which participated for the first time: among others Spradling EUROPE, Waterbus S.C. In the Marina Gdynia, we could admire about 120 units, in tent halls set on the quay: newest sailing accessories, motorboats, navigational equipment, belaying and rescue equipment, tourist and sports clothing as well as the offer of charters organizers.

The ceremonial opening of the Boat Show, on Thursday, July 18, gathered many honorary guests, representatives of patrons and enthusiasts of the WIND and WATER.

The co-hosts of the event were: Marek Łucyk - Vice-President of Gdynia, Rafał Klajnert - Director of the Gdynia Sports Center and Jacek Oryl - Director of the WIND and WATER Boat Show as well as Waldemar Heflich - Editor-in-Chief of the Żagle monthly. The exhibitors and visitors were greeted by: Sławomir Rybicki - Senator of the Republic of Poland from Gdynia and Pucki poviat, Sebastian Nietupski - President of the Polish Chamber of Marine Industry and Water Sports – POLBOAT, Tomasz Chamera - President of the Polish Sailing Association, Josep M. Pla - President of the European Sailing Federation EUROSAF, Paweł Szabelewski – General Secretary of the Polish Motorboat and Water Skiing Association, Stanisław Sikora - President of the Gdańsk branch of the Polish Tourist and Sightseeing Society, Andrzej Bełżyński - President of WOPR Gdynia. The official opening was great opportunity to present commemorative jubilee medals issued on the occasion of the 95th anniversary of the Polish Sailing Association and the 60th anniversary of the monthly Żagle.

Extreme sailing trips - meetings with excellent sailors at the Fair

Special guests of the 14. WIND and WATER on water Boat Show were the captain Joanna Pajkowska, who recently completed a solo cruise around the world and Rafał Moszczyński, who will set off on a similar trip on the Gdynia - Gdynia route.

The 34th Baltic Sea Song Festival, an event accompanying the WIND and WATER on water, was held in the Concert Shell in Gdynia on Saturday evening.

Nominations and awards

Traditionally, at the WIND and WATER on water, the President of Gdynia awarded the best products in the Gdynia YACHT Design competition, established to promote design in the water sports industry. The idea of ​​this competition perfectly fits in with Gdynia's strategy, since the city is focused on innovation, interesting design and well-designed public space. The jury including Tadeusz Jelec - the famous Polish designer and Jaguar Design Manager; Bartosz Piotrowski – art phd, designer of PESA, Leszek Gonciarz – passionate designer and yacht builder, architect; Stanisław Iwiński (secretary) - sailor, specialist in the field of sailing and motor yachts, head of the motorboat department of the monthly Żagle, Alicja Kotlarek - interior designer, 3D graphic designer at H2 Yacht Design and Jacek Oryl - director of the WIND and WATER Boat Show.  

• in the category: Sailing Yachts: Hanse 458. Yacht presented by the Super Yachts company, for the original contemporary stylistics subordinated to the nautical functionality.

• in the category: Motor yachts - Axopar 28 Cabin Brabus Line. A yacht produced by S-Yachts for the individual style and quality of finish, for the harmony of design and functionality.

In addition, the jury awarded the Galeon 650 Fly yacht exhibited by the Galeon shipyard for the exceptional quality of the finish and workmanship, subordinated to the consistent pursuit of achieving a uniform style and prestige deprived of vulgarity.
